Girl, you are speaking my language. I just launched my own substack publication around the RE-invention happening around midlife. After the experience of losing my mom, life just doesnβt look the same and Iβm done trying to fit the mold. Congrats on the book. I have one buried in me too, I feel.
Uggh I feel you around the loss of your mom. I havenβt gone through that yet but I can see how it can change how you view EVERYTHING. Hereβs to tossing out the mold.
The article that drops tomorrow is Part 1 of 2 about how losing her has changed me. Hope you have a few minutes to check it out. Also, I'm looking to collaborate with like minded women. If it makes sense for us to do that I would love to chat more about it.
I would love to chat about collaborating. Let's connect in a week or two in the DM's. I am recovering from book launch week and more tired than I expected. :)
I hear ya. Congratulations on the book launch. I don't know if you saw my response to your comment on my article...I have your book in my amazon cart. Is it on Audible too?
I did see your response to my comment on your article. Thank you for sharing your wisdom from the other side. The book isn't on Audible. I'll probably do an audio version sometime next year. :)
Yes, been doing various things lately that goes against my younger self. Giving myself permission toβ¦. Whatever that might be for the day. Iβm glad you wrote the book!
Hey girl hey ππ½. Over the past 5 years I have been breaking all the rules. I dated a man 23 years younger, spent $5,000 on new clothes for a photoshoot, taken naps, quit my job and launched my business with very little money and no backup plan, discovered multiple parks in my area to just go sit and explore. Said no to babysitting my grandson and laid in bed all day just because.
I donβt know about you, but having the ability to do all of these things came from lots of coaching, therapy, nervous system work, Acupuncture, Reiki and faith.
Love your energy and the topic of your book and definitely will read it!!
I know that feelingβ¦when something comes your way over time and you keep pushing it away because, how? When? Butβ¦ and finally β I am here standing in my gift and on my journey as a non-fiction audiobook narrator. It only took a couple of decades, butβ¦better late than never. <3
I have faith your book will reveal itself when you and it are ready. Speaking it out loud in this comment has already shifted the energy in that direction. βπ½π
The soul is one. The soul has no brain. The heart beats to the rhythm of life while the world teaches the brain to march to the rhythm of civilization.
We are trained to believe living means following standards, labels, numbers, systems, statistics. But how much of our lives are spent trying to impress other brains with no souls attached to them?
What if life is the game? What if the illusion is what we call reality? What is truly real anymore?
I appreciate this life because it belongs to me. I was never meant to become a character inside somebody elseβs storybook. I write my own pages. I challenge my own destiny. Not somebodyβs statistic. Not somebodyβs experiment. Not somebodyβs definition of intelligence.
I became what I wanted to become.
No names. No fear. No badge. My heart is my gear.
I never needed a label to understand myself. And still, people spend their lives trying to convince you that you are something you are not.
Free to love. Free to care. Free to feel.
Maybe becoming human was the training. Maybe freedom was always outside the cage.
The animals do not chase status. The birds do not care about approval. The trees do not compete for validation. Yet they survive with rhythm, instinct, and balance.
Hi Kai! I loved listening to you talk about your new book. Your enthusiasm is wonderfully contagious, and I can't imagine a better feeling than bringing a dream to life that will encourage other women to chase their own.
I've come to believe that the magic happens in the tiny space between "I should" and "I did." That's where courage lives. That's where life gets interesting.
I recently tested that theory myself.
After sending my own passion project to print, I announced to my husband of 50 years that I was leaving him in charge of the animals while I accepted an "artist-in-residence position on the felt" at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas for two weeks.
At 72, in a game that's historically only about 5% women, I'm wandering happily outside my comfort zone. I'm not expecting a final table. I'd be thrilled just to cash in one event.
Because sometimes the real jackpot isn't the money, it's having the nerve to become the person your younger self would have cheered for.
Kai, I believe YOUR younger self is calling you a β Bad A$$!β for finishing your book and bringing it to print! Wild successes, my friend!
Thank you Kenlyn for your kind words and I love your story of stepping outside your comfort zone and describing magic happening in that tiny space between βI shouldβ and βI did.β
Has Vegas happened yet? Please come back and share how it went whenever it does.
Thank you Kai! My Vegas adventure starts this upcoming weekend. If anything exciting comes of it? I will come back and share. Thanks for the good wishes!
Wonderful video. I felt like we were in the same room and you were just talking to me.
I also have the same rule about messages from the universe. More than one gets my consideration.
My act of joynellion right now is allowing myself to be cared for during my recovery from lung surgery.
Being the one who was always the caregiver this was not easy! But now Iβm basking in it instead of pushing myself to recover quicker.
Thank you, you are a joy.
Thank you for the kinds words about the video.
Receiving care is HUGE for smart, independent women. Iβm so glad you are being cared for and recovering. Sending healing vibes your way. ππ½
Youβre so kind. Thank you for your well wishes. I hope you have a peaceful day, Kai.

I like what you said about getting the same message more than once. I try to pay attention to that too.
Itβs always fun when you get an alert in that way. β¨

I feel you. Rewiring behavior we learned in our younger days to survive the patriarchy is a day by day thing. Onwardsβ¦
Having a walk around the block to soak in some Vitamin D and outside air.
I know that's right. The joybellion is built on tiny moments of choosing yourself. βοΈ

Oooh you are the poster child for quiet disobedience. They need you picture next to it in the dictionary. lol
Thank you π
Congratulations! I so love that you listen to and trust The Universe and believe in magic. Best wishes!π₯°
Thank you Devi. Yay for magic.

Love that you are standing in your gift. Trusting the timing is a thing.
One hundred percent π―
Your spirit guides were leading you to exactly what you were supposed to be doing!
Love that you trusted yourself and committed to your project!
I have a book stirring. Has been for over a decade.
Iβm stuck in the βwhere do I startβ mode, but iβll figure it out.
When you know you know and the words will flow ππ»

I love your references to nature. We could learn so much from her.

Shoot even if nothing exciting happens come back and share. It's still a monumental moment.
